FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Trader Joe’s partners with the Emergency Family Assistance Association for Thanksgiving

MONROVIA, Calif., October 15, 2023 – Boulder Trader Joe’s will donate 100% of their viable unsold goods in November and December to the Emergency Family Assistance Association (EFAA) to support families preparing to celebrate this holiday season through their local Neighborhood Share program.

“Our whole team is excited to see what this partnership will do for our community,” says Liz Lemon, the Operations Director of EFAA “It is especially important to provide fresh foods to the 28,000 families we serve.  So many individuals use donating as a means of purging their pantries. But our community members need to eat fresh produce and meat, not expired canned beans.”

EFAA will receive the remainder of unsold produce, dairy, meat, and some other perishable goods starting Wednesday, November 1 through Wednesday, January 3.  The program is in its Beta stage, but if it’s successful, both parties plan to create a long-term partnership.

“Providing nutrient-dense and organic food for a great value has been our mission since our inception.  This partnership allows us to stay true to that goal while creating a positive impact in our local community” says Michael Scott, the general manager of the Boulder Trader Joe’s. “We are excited to support them as they work to provide support to those in need.”

Trader Joe’s and EFAA: Celebrating an End to Harvest through

Dear Amber Carlson,

I am a representative of Trader Joe’s in Boulder, CO. We are proud to support residents through the holidays to stock their pantries with free groceries in conjunction with EFAA, Emergency Family Assistance Association, an organization addressing food insecurity.

Given your work about the homelessness day services center, I thought you would be interested in exploring this endeavor.  Could I put you in contact with our Community Involvement chair for an interview?

 Best,
